Mix Erawan / Gajah Brand Rice Flour, Star Brand Wheat Starch and water. Strain and stir well.
Cut yam into 2 equal portions with one portion in cubes.
Steam remaining portion of yam until soft. Smash it and mix well with flour batter.
Fry sliced onions with 10 tablespoons of oil until turns brown. Remove fried onions. Fry driedprawns with little sugar (for garnishing) .
Fry garlic with oil. Add in yam cubes and seasonings. Pour in flour and smashed yam mixture.Stir continuously under medium heat until batter thickens.
Pour batter into a well-greased 10" square tin. Flatten the surface.
Steam for 30 minutes. After steaming, immediately garnish with dried prawns, fried slicedonions, spring onions and chillies.
Let cake cool.
